Best thing ever

Wednesday afternoon. I got to hear my husband's voice this morning. I know that sounds incredibly simple but you just can't understand why that's so special unless you've been unable to call your spouse for weeks at a time. I don't know how women back in WWI and II, Korea, and Vietnam did it...weeks or months between letters and never, ever a phone call. At least I know that TCB is safe, though, and that makes it easier. If you know someone with a spouse serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Africa, the Middle East or anywhere else in the world where violence is a way of life, do me a favor: reach out to them and tell them how much you appreciate their sacrifice. It's so easy to feel isolated and unloved when you can't have that person with you and just a few kind words really can make a difference.

(Lest you think I'm spoiled by not being able to talk on the phone - which I am - we haven't been able to email reliably, either, due to satellite problems. When he just disappears like that, my heart feels like it's in a vice!)

TCB Homecoming Countdown stands at 2 days, 23 hours, 10 minutes! (Omigosh, what am I going to wear to meet him at the airport?!! And I need to get balloons. And a "Welcome Home" sign. And clean the house. And put pink or blue bows on the freshly-brushed cats. And get supplies to cook something fabulous for dinner Saturday night. Gah!!!)

Two days!

1. Wear saran wrap. That's enough.

2. Order in.

This is an awesome, man pleasing recipe - you could make it the night before along with a mashed potato casserole and just reheat, serve with a little salad, wine and DONE! So yummy, really easy too.

This is so exciting. I know you will have a wonderful, wonderful time with TCB. I have watched a bit of "The War" with Ken Burns and this one man finally heard from his family (via letters) after something like six months. (He was in the Philippines theatre.)

Would your cats really let you put bows on them? They're pretty cool if they do that!

Have a great visit w/TCB!
